NEW YEAR, NEW SECRET RESOLUTIONS REVEALED
I had no intention of writing a post about all of my goals for this year, but something came over me while watching ‘The Bachelor’ last night (maybe because I wanted to escape the awkwardness of Colton’s first one-on-one date! Was anyone else cringing? LOL) I guess I’m thankful for that awkwardness because whether or not I accomplish it, I feel that sitting down and writing out all of my ideas, goals, and dreams is something extremely productive! So here we go…
BIG CHANGES
A huge change for me this year had been watching my youngest baby go off to school. It has opened up 3 days a week to accomplish all the little things that can be so tedious with a little one; from cleaning the house to going grocery shopping. Not to mention, pouring more love into this creative space of mine!
GOALS
I might be a little late to the game, but it’s still January and I say it’s never too late to set goals. I have tons of little things I would love to accomplish, broke I narrowed down my goals into 3 categories that I can hopefully look back on at the end of the year and check off as COMPLETE!
Creativity, fitness, and a living a clean life are what I’m focusing on…
Creativity
I wish I had time EVERY DAY for this category. But the reality is I have three full time jobs with my babies, a household to run, and a husband to dedicate solo time to! For now, I’m going to start off by dedicating 2 afternoons a week to writing, photography, and videography. I think setting a reasonable goal like this makes it not as daunting of a task!
Something specifically I would like to dive into more is capturing intimate, exciting, and sensitive moments through video. I have been dabbling more and more in video and editing and I’m open to taking on more projects. So whether you’re a small business, and family, or an individual who is need of video, please reach out and let me know your idea! I’m so excited to keep practicing and perfecting my craft. You can check out some of my past videos here.
I can’t close this creativity category without saying that I am considering and actually actively looking into getting a job. I would ideally love something part-time that exercises all the categories I mentioned above, but at the same time challenges me to use parts of my brain that I might have shut off since becoming a mom. I truly envy the friends I have who are able to work around their mommy-duties and not only make a living, but a world of independence. I think it’s so important to have, whether its a job, a hobby, or a community service. Something that’s JUST FOR ME. In the meantime, ’ll keep searching for that right opportunity to come around :)
Fitness
I’m scared to even write this down, but it has ALWAYS been a dream of mine to compete in a fitness competition. It’s actually top 5 on my bucket list! The idea of getting into the best physical shape of my life and walking onto a stage post 3 kids is frightening, exciting, and bad-ass all in one!
I do realize that this requires A TON of dedication, planning and support. I need to make sure that when I decide it’s the right time for me to pursue this goal of mine, I need to be mentally prepared and have the right team behind me. For anyone who has competed in the past, I want to pick your brain so PLEASE reach out and tell me about your experience! Fitness has always been a huge part of my life, and I feel this will bring my love for it to the ultimate next level.
Clean life
I’ve always been big on removing clutter from my home, but I really want to implement the idea of living “clean” to all aspects of my life, starting with my health. Like most of us, I indulged in every sweet and alcoholic beverage offered to me over the holidays. I’m not a big drinker, but I always enjoyed a glass or two of wine, especially on date night’s with the hubby.
I’m not sure which night it was, but shortly after the New Year, I was bloated and swollen in the face from just one glass of wine. I wasn't planning on going sober, but I brought up the idea to my husband and he quickly jumped on the no drinking bandwagon too! I feel it’s always easier to accomplish things when your partner or spouse does it with you, so I’m excited to have his support. So here we go, NO ALCOHOL FOR 2019!!!
Don’t get me wrong though, I will be indulging in my DESSERTS! I am such a chocolate and PB lover, and I’m not about to give up on the things that make this momma happy!
So there it is! My big goals for 2019! Here’s to putting it out there into the universe and holding myself accountable to my hopes and dreams!
